Stripe has a "test" mode which allows you to use fake credit cards to mimic donation processing. This is beneficial if your team is wanting to experience the process of placing a donation between Legacy RaiseDonors and Stripe.
If you wish to process donations thru Legacy RaiseDonors in test mode, you need to locate your test keys in Stripe. Stripe has a "production" mode and a "test" mode.
Step 1
Log into your Stripe dashboard and click on Developers -> API link.
Step 2
Copy the Publishable and Secret keys and place them securely in Legacy RaiseDonors. In Legacy RaiseDonors, you'll need to locate your Stripe account (gear in top right corner -> Manage account -> Payment Providers).
Click on the applicable Stripe gateway.
Click "edit" for Test mode.
Step 3
Ensure Test mode is set to "off".
Ensure "use sandbox mode at gateway" is set to "Yes".
Securely past the TEST publishable and Secret key into Legacy RaiseDonors.
Step 4
Click Save.
You have now configured this Stripe gateway to process FAKE credit cards. You will only see these transactions inside Stripe by clicking the "Viewing test data" slider.
You will need to use Stripe's TEST credit cards while in test mode. Using real credit cards will not work. A full suite of varying test cards are available here.
