One of the keys to a high-performing donation page is making the process as easy as possible for your donors. One of the best ways to do that is to offer multiple payment options, so donors can process their payment using whatever is most convenient for them. For donors who like to use online wallets, you can offer the ability to use Apple Pay or Google Pay to process payments.
Note: Apple Pay and Google Pay are only available for donation pages using a Stripe gateway.
Accepting Apple Pay
While Google Pay requires no additional setup, before you can accept payments via Apple Pay, you will need to configure your Stripe account to accept these payments. If you enable Apple Pay and Google Pay as payment options without configuring Apple Pay in Stripe, donors may select Apple Pay as a payment option but their donations will fail to process.
Currently Apple pay will not work if you embed your giving page.
To accept Apple Pay, log into your stripe account, go to Settings, and then Payment Methods, and look for the Apple Pay option.
Depending on the configuration of your account, Apple Pay may be listed on either the Live or Eligible tab. Click on the "Configure" button to the right.
There, you'll be asked to provide a domain for verification. Enter raisedonors.com, then click add. (Note: if you have a white-labelled account that includes a custom domain, enter your custom domain instead.) You'll be prompted to enter your Stripe password, and then click "Continue" to save.
You can learn more in this Stripe support article, in the "Set up Apple Pay for Your Website" section. You only need to complete steps 1 & 2 from the Stripe support article, which is what we've outlined already.
Enabling Apple Pay and Google Pay
To enable Apple Pay and Google Pay, you will need to edit any page where you'd like to offer donors the option to pay with online wallets, or create a new page and add the option.
To do this, select "Pages" from the menu at the top of the screen. There, you'll see all of your existing donation pages. If you'd like to create a new donation page, click on the "New Page" button in the upper right.
To add Apple Pay and Google Pay to an existing page, find that page, click on the menu to the right of the page name, and then select "Edit."
Whether you are creating a new page or editing an existing one, you'll add the Apple and Google Pay options from the Setup step, which is the second page of the process. There, scroll down to the "Donation Setup" section. Make sure Stripe is selected as the payment provider. Below that, you'll see radio buttons to select forms of payment, and some additional checkboxes for offering alternative checkout options. Check the box that says “Accept Apple Pay and Google Pay” and then make sure to save your changes.
Selecting Apple or Google Pay at Checkout
Once you've configured Apple Pay in Stripe and enabled these options for your donation page(s), donors may see one or the other when processing a donation. If a donor is using Safari as a browser and they have Apple Pay linked to a valid credit card, then they will see the option to use Apple Pay.
If a donor is using Chrome or logged into Google and has Google Pay enabled, they will see the option to use Google Pay.
Now you'll be all set! Your donors can use their digital wallets to process payments via Stripe.
