How Do I Connect My Stripe Account To RaiseDonors?

Connecting your Stripe account to RaiseDonors is an easy process that allows you to begin collecting donations effortlessly!

 

Before you start

  • RaiseDonors only allows Stripe "Standard" accounts to be connected. If you have an express or custom Stripe account, you'll need to create a new Stripe account.
  • It is important to know what is allowed by Stripe as you can be denied due to the nature of your business. 
  • In certain countries, Stripe is required to collect, verify, and maintain information about a company’s beneficial owners and directors. These requirements come from government regulators and help promote transparency and prevent financial crimes.
    • Charities and nonprofit organizations are not required to provide information on individuals or entities that own 25% or more of the company, as they do not generally have percentage-based controlling interests. You will only need to provide the information for an individual who can exercise significant control over the company.
  • We recommend that you turn off the Stripe receipt email in your Stripe account settings since RaiseDonors will handle donation confirmation notifications.
  • Stripe's processing fees vary depending on where you're located and your business entity type. Visit Stripe's documentation for more details:

Step 1 - Connect to Stripe

  1. Log into RaiseDonors.
  2. Click the gear icon in the top right and click on "manage account". 
  3. Click on Payment Providers from the left navigation. 
  4. If this is the first payment gateway you are adding to RaiseDonors, click "Stripe".
    1. If this is an additional payment gateway, confirm the additional price and click the blue "Add" button. 
  5. Click the blue "Connect with Stripe" button to begin.

Step 2 - Add a Stripe Account

As A New Account:

  1. Supply your email address and click next.
  2. Provide a secure password and click next. 
  3. Supply a mobile phone number
  4. Verify the mobile verification code sent to your mobile device.
  5. Record the emergency back up code in a safe and secure location. 
  6. Provide all of the information needed by Stripe to create your account. Sensitive information may be required to complete the process. Please fully complete the process. 
  7. Once you have finished the process at Stripe, you will be returned to RaiseDonors and the process is complete!

With An Existing Account:

  1. Supply your email address and click next.
  2. Supply your password and click Login. 
  3. Select the Stripe account (if you have more than one) from the drop down and click "Connect my Stripe Account". 
  4. You will now be taken back into RaiseDonors and the process is complete!
Note:
Ensure the currency setting is the same on Stripe and RaiseDonors.  If your account is set to a different currency, this will result in donors being charged incorrectly.
