RaiseDonors supports multiple currencies depending on the gateway you are configured to use.
Settlements
If your merchant settles in $USD and a donor gives a donation using a credit card from a country outside of the USA, RaiseDonors is not involved in the settlement of the donation amount and currency conversion fees. The variables that impact how the settlement amount is calculated are controlled by the merchant, not RaiseDonors.
For example, if a donor with a credit card from France gives a $50 donation in US Dollars the following steps occur:
1. RaiseDonors will send $50 to the gateway along with the credit card number.
2. The gateway will identify that the credit card is from France and, thus, paying in Euros.
3. The final amount settled into your bank account will vary depending on the currency conversion fees, exchange rates, and the type of credit card being used.
If your organization has a need to deposit donations in a currency other than $USD, this is possible. Meaning, you want to collect $GBP - so if someone from the UK were to give a donation of $50 GBP, there would be no currency conversion fees and your bank account would receive $50 GBP.
Each gateway can support differing FIAT currencies. Below is a list of the currencies which can be deposited into your bank for each gateway.
Note, each gateway will have their own rules and regulations to setup a merchant account to accept foreign currencies. Typically they require you to have a legal presence, with a business ID and bank account in the country you are requesting to accept currencies for.
